Training If you haven’t seen the “writing on the wall” look no further than to the fiberglass manufacturers who are – at the moment – trying to get into the spray foam market as manufacturers. The fact is- it’s a different animal altogether. Fiberglass is easy to install and requires very little skills (sorry if you are a current fiberglass installer) and you need very low skills to work equipment needed to perform the install.
Spray foam insulation is a complicated system compared to fiberglass and the skill level need to work the equipment used to perform is much higher than fiberglass, and that brings us to the importance of TRAINING.
We’ve traveled around to various foam manufacturers’ “Training Centers” and were shocked at what we witnessed. To travel thousands of miles to well-established companies and find out that the only thing we left with was a certificate stating that we were “certified”, and not any real knowledge that we felt would truly benefit a contractor was not what we expected.
The agenda we put together was one that was created with the contractor in mind. We want to make sure that when you leave our training, you won’t just get certified- you’ll earn your certification by actually learning valuable information that will allow you to succeed. Lets make no mistake- you will get your real learning experience on-the-job, but we’ll help you put together a solid foundation to work off.
Meet our trainers: Steve Shaw, F-T Services, has been spraying foam for over ten years at Foam-Tech, North Thetford VT. Foam-Tech has been around for over 25 years and its founder, Henri Fennell, is one of the most well-respected resources in the industry. Steve's approach and our goal of making sure the training we offer sets up each contractor with a solid foundation on what contractors need to know in order to be successful from safety training, the spray foam insulation - important things to know from a contractor's standpoint - hand-on training including density checks, spraying the actual foam, and working with all of the equipment, and finally sales & marketing which includes how to create a contract to protect yourself, tradeshow help we offer, how to sell the product, marketing material and more. Most of our hands-on training is also facilitated with the help of Tim Newmeier, Northeast Equipment Specialist with Graco, who will walk you through how the equipment works while Steve may be working with another group on spraying. Kurt Behner, Regional Manager for La Polla, is also present for technical questions on La Polla's Foam-Lok closed cell (FL2000), open cell (FL500), and roofing foams (LPA 2500, PA 2800) and coatings. Peter Cantone, President of Spray Foam Nation, will be your host. Lunch is included all three days. We'll go out the first night for a night on the town in New Haven, CT and the second night is a local night for dinner and drinks. From time to time, we invite guest trainers who could be form various related fields including fire coatings, fire proofing, other equipment manufacturers, HERS Certified raters, Energy Auditors, and more.
